For your better understanding, I've only had one boyfriend before Jake whom I've only been seeing for the past 2 months. Therefore, Jake cannot be the said ex-boyfriend whom everyone has been talking about. #commonsense"

World Record Broken on Global Smurfs Day!

4,891 SMURFS FANS SET A NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™ TITLE
FOR LARGEST GATHERING OF PEOPLE DRESSED AS SMURFS
WITHIN A 24-HOUR PERIOD IN MULTIPLE VENUES
ON GLOBAL SMURFS DAY

On June 25, 2011, in honor of Global Smurfs Day, Smurfs fans in 11 cities around the world set a new Guinness World Records title for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Smurfs within a 24-hour Period in Multiple Venues, as announced by Marc Weinstock, president, Worldwide Marketing for Sony Pictures Entertainment. The worldwide events were organized by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Pictures Animation in anticipation of the release of The Smurfs® (opening in the Philippines on August 10.)

As worldwide audiences turned out to celebrate the birthday of Peyo, the creator of the Smurfs, fans came to events dressed as Smurfs (white Smurf hat, white pants and shoes, and body painted blue). Adjudicators from Guinness World Records confirmed that a total of 4,891 people dressed as Smurfs in 11 locations simultaneously around the world, claiming a new title for Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Smurfs within a 24-hour Period in Multiple Venues. The previous record had been 2,510 people dressed as Smurfs.

The global record was set by people dressed as Smurfs in Brussels, Belgium; Athens, Greece; Scheveningen (The Hague), Holland; Dublin, Ireland; Mexico City, Mexico; Panama City, Panama; Warsaw, Poland; Moscow, Russia; Johannesburg, South Africa; New York, USA; and London, UK.

Commenting on the announcement, Weinstock said, “It’s a thrill to see so many people turn out to be a part of this true fan moment in Smurfs history. Breaking a Guinness World Record on Global Smurfs Day is a testament to the enormous appeal and popularity of these beloved characters.”

Aleksandr Vypirailenko, Guinness World Records Adjudicator, added, “We are impressed by the level of coordination and timing required to pull off this truly global record attempt. With 11 cities, each with hundreds of people dressed as Smurfs – and it all happened simultaneously. We apply the same strict rules and exacting approach to every record that we recognize, and it’s exciting to see that this record was not simply broken, but smashed.”

In addition, people around the world observed Global Smurfs Day, from lit monuments in Brazil to a fun-filled family event at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. In France, Smurf figurines inhabited Paris’s garden of the Champs de Mars (in front of the Eiffel Tower).

In the Philippines, Global Smurfs Day was celebrated with festivities for the family at the SM Mall of Asia in an afternoon of fun games, wacky snaps at the BaiCapture photo booth, tattoo painting and free blue cotton candy.

First Look: “Fright Night” Character Banners

DreamWorks Pictures has just released the character banners its new suspense-thriller “Fright Night,” a re-imagining of the 1985 comedy-horror classic.

The individual banners feature the main characters played by Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, David Tennant and Imogen Poots.

Chris Hansen and Ritz-Carlton Affair Caught on Camera

52 year-old Emmy award-winning host Chris Hansen has reportedly been caught cheating on his wife according to the National Enquirer.

Hansen, who lives with his wife Mary with their two kids in Connecticut is having a four-month old affair with Kristyn Caddell, 30, an anchor at WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Hansen and Kristin were allegedly secretly videotaped June 24 arriving for a romantic diner at the Ritz-Carlton's Angle restaurant in Manalapan, Florida.

Caddell, 30, was an intern at the station before later becoming a reporter. Her bio on the WPTV website says she started at the station six years ago, left for other TV jobs in California, Texas and Tennessee, before returning to West Palm Beach.

Hansen has worked for various NBC News shows, including Dateline NBC and the hidden-camera sting-operation show To Catch a Predator, since 1993. He has won seven Emmy awards.

Meet your DREAMDATE for the Digital Age…The 1st Original Pinoy Dating Game Show on Studio 23!

Hello Media and Studio 23 join forces to propel romance on Philippine TV to another level with the launch of the 1st “ORIGINAL PINOY” dating game show, “DREAM DATE” premiering on July 15, Friday at 11:30 pm.

“DREAMDATE is the first ever tri-media, dating game-lifestyle show in the Philippines created by Filipinos! This is not a franchise from foreign shows…” says David Abrenilla, the executive producer and creator of the show.

All TV viewers at home and Filipinos all over the world are invited to experience the dawning of this new era of dating entertainment!

This grand multi-media launch aims to ultimately connect all three main media outlets- online, mobile and television to meet the growing demands of today’s generation of digital consumers who are seeking entertainment, interaction and user generated content.

Providing the show with its unique match-making system is the nation’s very own and first on-line and mobile dating-lifestyle network, Chuzi. This matchmaker guarantees a selection process that is exciting yet safe, non-offensive and free from rejection. Chuzi makes the contestants dating experience a memorable one by linking them up to the one they’re attracted to and are attracted to them. The DREAMDATE show is actually an extension of Chuzi. Consumers shall use the internet or their mobile phone to enroll in the game, in hopes of finding their match. The consumers are analyzed based on their success with the game and will be invited to a casting call, to have a chance to be on DREAMDATE show.

In their search for the ultimate DREAMDATE, 6 contestants, 3 girls and 3 boys, will take on questionings and other challenges, in a progressive fashion, for their compatibility. At the end, the contestants will be given the chance to vote for their DREAMDATE based on their looks, personality and special talent.

Spreading their love vibe to DREAMDATE are two of the most charming and dynamic TV personalities in town, Myx VJ, Bianca Roque and Magandang Umaga host, Andrei Felix.

I’m extremely thrilled and grateful to be part of such a fun and dynamic show!,” Bianca says.

The driven, talented and creative team behind it like Director Frank and Producer David makes it even better. It’s not your usual dating game show. For our contestants, we not only have beauty queens but also tough girls and girls-next-door. At the same time, we have the on-line component which is the lifestyle angle of the show. In that website, you could get tips and advises on how to dress-up, make-up, where to go on dates, what to do. I’m sure everyone will get something out of this show…” added Bianca.

This is actually one of my ‘dream jobs!” says co-host and former Myx VJ Andrei.

I’ve been on radio, I’ve been a VJ as well. I’ve done basketball and I’m currently hosting a morning show. But this is something I haven’t done yet…Being part of DREAMDATE is overwhelming…It’s a very big project… The concept of the shiw is that everybody can join in.” Andrei adds.

This is not the first time the DREAMDATE partners are hosting the show together. They used to work with MYX where they became very good friends.

DREAMDATE executive producer David Abrenilla explains the role of the two in the show…“Here we have Bianca who gives the advise, our “Love Guru” and Drei, our “Love Cupid” and together, we have the perfect match to find your dream date.”

Bianca and Andrei’s youthful good looks may belie their wit and wisdom beyond years. But definitely, they are no strangers to heart matters.

I’ve had my fair share of experiences when it comes to love. I’ve had all kinds of relationships that might be helpful to the kids right now. It would be awesome to at least share with them a little bit of things that I know,” Bianca shares.

Although Bianca and Andrei have had their share of blunders in the romance department, they neither lost their pro-active stance in the dating scene nor their sense of humor in finding true love. Their treasure chest of experiences, insights and practical tips, they vow to gamely share them on the show with viewers and contestants alike.

The DREAMDATE duo is looking forward, as well, to learning love lessons from the t.v. viewers and the dating contestants.

Though DREAMDATE is a Match made in Heaven for the Digital Age, it is neither only for the tech- savvy nor the social butterflies, DREAMDATE is for anyone and everyone with a big heart for upgrading their relational and communication skills and with a great spirit for expressing and sharing their love quotient.

Maria Sharapova on Wimbledon 2011

One of our staff writers offers his take on Wimbledon 2011 and the women's favorites. Instead of Sharapova vs Williams, he sees Wimbledon as being between Na Li and Petra Kvitova.

The women's singles event at Wimbledon 2011 promises to be more wide open than it has been in past years. A major reason for this is that there is not one past champion who is expected to be in Friday's draw that you can have a ton of confidence in at this point.

According to betting odds Maria Sharapova is the favorite to win the title however Sharapova is seven years removed from her only title at the All England Club. She has participated in nine Grand Slams since returning from her shoulder injury in 2009 and has only made one semifinal in those nine tournaments. While that top result was in her most recent Grand Slam, at Wimbledon specifically she has not even made it passed the fourth round since 2006.

The second favorite to win the title is Serena Williams and she is the returning champion at the event. However the American faltered in the second round of the grass court tournament in Eastbourne as Williams suffered defeat to Vera Zvonareva, a player the American has not had many troubles with in the past.

You have to question Williams' ability to win Wimbledon right now following such a prolonged absence from the WTA Tour although she could work things out with a couple easy early round matches at the All England Club.

Venus Williams is among the favorites as well but you can't have tons of confidence in the elder Williams sister either. Like Serena, Venus is returning from a significant absence from tour and in the AEGON International she suffered defeat to Daniela Hantuchova, a player that the former world number one had defeated in ten previous meetings.

Williams was in better match-condition at this time last season and she still suffered a quarterfinal loss to Tsvetana Pironkova at the All England Club. If anything you could expect a worse result this season as the American is not getting younger and her conditioning at this point in her career is more questionable than ever.

Caroline Wozniacki is the world number one and due to that she should be a player that the pundits should have some confidence in. However the Dane's Grand Slam results are not as distinguished as her ranking implies and it's been nearly two years since her solo Grand Slam final appearance from the 2009 US Open. At the recently completed French Open Wozniacki suffered a third round defeat, a discrediting loss for the world number one and if Grand Slam success is to happen for the Dane, as I think it will someday, when exactly that will come is not clear.

She's definitely a threat on tour as her titles keep adding up with WTA Copenhagen over the weekend another example but she just has not brought the same calibre tennis to all of the Grand Slams yet and that is a legitimate reason not to hold confidence in the 20 year old.

Victoria Azarenka is another player who is among the favorites but, like Wozniacki, Azarenka underachieves in the majors. She has not won a quarterfinal match in a Grand Slam draw in her career yet despite making that round four times. That makes her entirely inexperienced deep in Grand Slams and it's hard to have confidence in her to win Wimbledon as a result.

The two favorites that I have the most confidence in are Na Li and Petra Kvitova.

Li's credentials are now obvious as she won the 2011 French Open earlier this month but she also made the final of the Australian Open early in the season. That makes her 13-1 in Grand Slam matches in 2011, the best winning percentage of all players on tour.

Kvitova, like Li, has to have a lot confidence heading into Wimbledon as the Czech player, who is into the semifinals of the current grass court Eastbourne draw and may win the title there, made the Wimbledon semis last year. She did that by defeating Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka en route, wins that seemed improbable at the time.

Kvitova, who won a Premier Mandatory title in Madrid earlier this season, was also incredibly dangerous in the Roland Garros draw - more dangerous than many might think. She was the only player after the first round to take a set off of Na Li at the French Open as Kvitova extended the eventual champion to three sets in the round of 16 before falling.

That was the final ahead of the final and after that there was no one left in Paris who could challenge Li.

It's not yet known where Na Li and Petra Kvitova will fall in the draw in relation to one another as they are seeded third (Li) and eighth (Kvitova). However I do believe that they will both win their matches until they meet one another whether in the quarters, semifinals, or final. If one of them should suffer an earlier round upset, then the other one becomes the title favorite.
